It's gonna be (a wonderful) May!
Wine holidays, more book signings, and a barrel full of optimism.
I haven’t got much to share today, as I’m still recovering from a huge work event last week – but I’m *very* hopeful for this brand-new month, and look forward to everything it will bring.
Tomorrow is International Sauvignon Blanc Day, so fill your glass with something delicious! While New Zealand is often heralded as the Sauvignon Blanc capital of the world, plenty of other regions make a darn good SB.
Here are a few labels (all under $30!) that come from all over the world:
Prisma Sauvignon Blanc 2023 (Chile)
Lapostolle Grand Selection Sauvignon Blanc 2021 (Chile)
Domaine Henri Bourgeois Sancerre Les Baronnes 2022 (France)
Peju Legacy Collection Sauvignon Blanc North Coast 2022 (California)
Groth Sauvignon Blanc 2023 (California)
Mulderbosch Sauvignon Blanc 2022 (South Africa)
Marques de Caceres Sauvignon Blanc 2021 (Spain)
Other wine observances this month include:
May 9 – World Moscato Day. I’ve often had my qualms about this wine, but if you like it, I love it!
May 23 – International Chardonnay Day. I love this versatile grape variety so much that I wrote two stories about it for Wine Enthusiast. Read them below!
May 24 – The Anniversary of the Judgment of Paris. This observance is most notable for the California wine industry, marking its official step into the spotlight on the global wine stage.
May 25 – National Wine Day. This holiday falls on a Saturday and is going to be extremely special. Keep your eyes peeled for more details soon!
